Product Installation Instructions for 37x49x8 Front Fork Oil Seal Dust Cover

Compatibility

Tools Required

To install the front fork oil seal dust cover, you will need the following tools:

1. Flat-head Screwdriver – For prying and removing old seals.
2. Phillips-head Screwdriver – For removing screws if applicable.
3. 18mm Socket Wrench – For loosening and tightening nuts on the fork.
4. Rubber Mallet – To gently tap the new dust cover into place without damaging it.
5. Cleaning Cloth – To clean the fork stanchions and surrounding areas before installation.
6. Grease – To lubricate the seals and ensure a proper fit.

Installation Steps

1. Prepare the Motorcycle:

   • Securely lift the front of the motorcycle using a stand or jack.
   • Ensure the motorcycle is stable and won't tip over during the installation.

2. Remove the Front Wheel:

   • Use the socket wrench to loosen and remove the axle nuts.
   • Carefully take out the axle and remove the front wheel.

3. Take Off the Forks:

   • Remove any necessary components (like fender or brake calipers) for clear access to the forks.
   • Unscrew the bolts holding the forks in place, then gently slide the forks out of the triple clamps.

4. Remove Old Oil Seal Dust Covers:

   • Carefully pry off the old dust covers using the flat-head screwdriver.
   • Clean any residual grease or dirt from the stanchion.

5. Install New Dust Cover:

   • Apply a thin layer of grease to the new dust cover and the sealing surface of the fork.
   • Align the new dust cover with the fork and carefully push it into place.
   • Use the rubber mallet to gently tap the dust cover until it is fully seated.

6. Reinstall Forks:

   • Carefully slide the forks back into the triple clamps.
   • Secure them by tightening the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.

7. Reattach Front Wheel:

   • Replace the front wheel and secure it with the axle.
   • Tighten the axle nuts with the socket wrench.

8. Final Check:

   • Check all components are secure and ensure nothing is loose.
   • Test the motorcycle’s front suspension briefly to confirm proper installation.
