Installation Steps:

  1. Preparation:

    • Ensure the scooter, moped, or ATV is parked on a flat, stable surface.
    • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues during installation.
  2. Remove Old Cover:

    • Using the appropriate socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the old crankcase cover.
    • Carefully detach the cover and set it aside. If there’s a gasket, use the gasket scraper to remove any remnants from the engine surface.
  3. Clean the Surface:

    • Use a clean cloth or paper towel to clean the contact surface on the engine where the new cover will be installed. Ensure there are no dirt particles or residual gasket material.
  4. Prepare New Cover:

    • Check the new cover for any defects or missing parts. Ensure the gasket is in good condition or replace it if necessary.
    • Apply a thin layer of oil or lubricant to the gasket surface for a better seal.
  5. Install New Cover:

    • Position the new shortcase left crankcase cover in place, aligning it with the bolt holes.
    • Hand-tighten the bolts to hold the cover in place, ensuring even pressure on all sides.
  6. Tighten Bolts:

    • Using a torque wrench, tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings (typically found in the vehicle’s service manual). Start with the center bolts and work your way outward to ensure even distribution of pressure.
  7. Reassemble Other Components:

    • If any other components were removed to access the crankcase cover, reinstall them in the reverse order of removal.
  8. Reconnect Battery:

    • Once everything is secured, reconnect the battery.
  9. Test:

    • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
    • Check for any leaks or unusual noises and ensure proper functioning.
