Front Brake Pads Installation Instructions

Tools Required:

  • Torx screwdriver (T20)
  • Pliers (for removing old brake pad retaining clips)
  • Screwdriver (flathead or Phillips)
  • Socket wrench or ratchet and socket (for removing caliper bolts)
    *Safety glasses
  • Work light (optional)

Step 1: Remove the Wheel

  1. Raise the vehicle using a car lift or jack stands, and remove the front wheel to access the brake caliper.

Step 2: Remove the Caliper Bolts

  1. Use a socket wrench or ratchet and socket to remove the caliper bolts. Be careful not to damage the brake hose.
  2. Remove the caliper from the rotor.

Step 3: Remove the Old Brake Pads

  1. Remove the old brake pad retaining clips using pliers.
  2. Pull out the old brake pads from the caliper.

Step 4: Install the New Brake Pads

  1. Take the new brake pads and insert them into the caliper, making sure they are properly seated and aligned.
  2. Reinstall the brake pad retaining clips.

Step 5: Reinstall the Caliper

  1. Place the caliper back over the rotor, making sure it is properly aligned.
  2. Hand-tighten the caliper bolts.

Step 6: Tighten the Caliper Bolts

  1. Use a torque wrench to tighten the caliper bolts to the specified torque.
  2. Check the brake pads for proper clearance and adjust as needed.

Step 7: Bleed the Brake System (if necessary)

  1. If you have bled the brake system in the past, you may need to bleed it again after installing new brake pads.
  2. Use a brake bleeding kit to remove any air from the brake system.

Step 8: Test the Brakes

  1. Start the engine and pump the brake pedal several times to prime the brake system.
  2. Test the brakes by driving slowly and applying gentle pressure to the brake pedal.
