Installation Instructions for Rear Brake Pads

Tools Required:

Before starting the installation, ensure you have the following tools ready:

• Socket wrench with appropriate sockets
  -Torque wrench
• Flathead screwdriver
• Phillips screwdriver
• Wire brush (for cleaning)
• Brake cleaner spray
• Safety goggles
• Gloves

Installation Steps:

1. Preparation:

   • Ensure your motorcycle is on a stable surface and the ignition is turned off.
   • Wear safety goggles and gloves for protection.

2. Remove the Rear Wheel:

   • Using the socket wrench, loosen and remove the bolts securing the rear wheel.
   • Carefully pull the rear wheel off the motorcycle and set it aside.

3. Access the Brake Caliper:

   • Locate the brake caliper attached to the rear wheel assembly.
   • Remove the bolts securing the caliper using a socket wrench.

4. Remove Old Brake Pads:

   • Once the caliper is free, gently slide the old brake pads out of the caliper bracket.
   • Inspect the caliper and clean it using a wire brush and brake cleaner spray if necessary.

5. Install New Brake Pads:

   • Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they fit snugly and are aligned correctly.
   • Make sure to follow any orientation instructions provided with the brake pads.

6. Reattach the Brake Caliper:

   • Secure the caliper back in place over the new brake pads using the previously removed bolts.
   • Tighten the bolts to the manufacturer-recommended torque specifications using a torque wrench.

7. Reinstall the Rear Wheel:

   • Place the rear wheel back onto the motorcycle, aligning it with the axle.
   • Secure the wheel by tightening the bolts using the socket wrench.

8. Final Checks:

   • Before riding, pump the brake lever a few times to ensure the brake pads seat correctly against the rotor.
   • Check the brake fluid level and ensure it is adequate.

9. Test Ride:

   • Take a short test ride to ensure the brakes are functioning properly.
   • Listen for any unusual noises and check for proper function before heading out on longer rides.
