Performance Piston Kit Installation Instructions

Tools Required:

Installation Steps:

1. Preparation:

   • Ensure you have all the necessary tools and parts ready before starting.
   • Work in a clean, dry area to avoid dirt contamination.

2. Disassemble Engine:

   • Remove the bike's seat and any body panels necessary to access the engine.
   • Drain the engine oil using an oil pan and remove any external components that may obstruct access to the head.

3. Remove Cylinder Head:

   • Use the socket set to remove the cylinder head bolts.
   • Carefully lift the cylinder head off the engine.

4. Remove Old Piston:

   • If applicable, take off the cylinder and disconnect the piston from the connecting rod by removing the wrist pin.
   • Remove the old piston rings and take note of the arrangement.

5. Install New Piston:

   • Apply a light coat of engine assembly lubricant on the new piston and rings.
   • Install the piston rings onto the new piston, ensuring they are properly seated.
   • Use the piston ring compressor to carefully install the new piston into the cylinder.

6. Reassemble Engine:

   • Place the cylinder back over the new piston and secure it with bolts, tightening to the manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
   • Reinstall the cylinder head, ensuring the gasket is in place and torque the bolts to specification.

7. Final Assembly:

   • Reattach any external components you removed, including wiring harnesses and intake/exhaust connections.
   • Fill the engine with new oil, making sure to check levels.

8. Testing:

   • Start the engine and allow it to warm up. Monitor for any unusual noises or leaks.
   • Take the vehicle for a short test ride to ensure everything is functioning properly.
